Why so many pages say 25 dollars
There were two separate fee stories in this market, and mixing them up is easy.

There is a genuine complication here worth being straight about. In December 2025 Egypt's tourism ministry publicly denied a reported increase, calling claims that the fee had risen to 45 dollars completely unfounded. That denial was about a different and larger number, and at the time the fees really were 25 and 60 dollars.
The five dollar rise on 27 April 2026 is a separate, later event. So a page can quite honestly cite a government denial and still be quoting a stale price. If you are comparing sources, check the date of the claim rather than the claim itself.

How to apply
The seven day rule is a hard requirement, not a recommendation.
- Create an account on the official portal with your email address.
- Start the application at least seven days before departure. The portal enforces this.
- Enter your passport details and travel dates, and upload the documents requested.
- Choose single entry at 30 dollars or multiple entry at 65 dollars.
- Pay by Visa, Mastercard or another accepted debit card.
- Wait for the decision by email, then print the approval and carry it with your passport.
What goes wrong
Four failures, and the first is simply arriving late to the form.
- Applying within seven days of departure. The portal states you must create the application at least seven days before you travel. Leaving it later removes the online route entirely.
- Budgeting last year's fee. Single entry rose to 30 dollars and multiple entry to 65 dollars on 27 April 2026.
- A passport with under six months left. Egypt expects at least six months validity beyond your departure date, and a blank page for the stamp.
- Assuming the visa on arrival is cheaper. It is not. That route also rose, to 30 dollars, on 1 March 2026, and it puts you in a queue at the airport.
What changed
Two increases in two months, plus a denial in between that confused everyone.
